Construction work Sports & Culture

Over the past years the number of visitors of Sports & Culture has grown up to 1.2 million visitors per year. In order to be able to continue to provide a high-quality offer, the available surface of Sports & Culture will be increased from 10.000 to 14.000 square meters. Both buildings will be connected to each other through a central entrance (Playground), starting from the square to the sports fields at the back. The Playground will be a vibrant place where encounters, relaxation and personal development take center stage.

During the, normally relaxed summer period, the people of Sports & Culture worked really hard. The upgrade and expansion of the facilities are up to full speed. Next year, at around the same time, they will hopefully open the doors of the brand new Sports & Culture. Even though they try to keep the nuisance of the build as low as possible, it can happen that temporary changes in their offer, or walking routes on the premises are different than you are used to. Stay up to date, so make sure to check their website regularly and follow the walking signs on the terrain.

In June this year, the Sports desk moved and is now located between Hall 1 and Hall 3. Via this temporary sports desk, you can reach the fitness, changing rooms and Hall 1. The outside fields, tennis fields, Hall 2, Hall 5, Hall 6 and the unique temporary catering facility ‘The Barn’ are reachable via the outside walking routes, at the back of Hall 3 and Hall 4 (DOJO). We kindly ask you not to use the former entrance, even when the gates are open. Thank you for your cooperation.

According to the original planning, the new Sports Café and changing rooms right behind the temporary Sports desk should have been completed. In the last weeks, due to multiple unforeseen circumstances during the build have come up. This results in a delay.

‘The Barn’
Due to the delay, the new Sports Café will be completed at the beginning of November. This however, offers you the opportunity to visit the most unique hangout on campus; ‘The Barn’! In this temporary catering concept, you won’t get bored. Eat tasty food or visit one of the parties, concerts and workshops. ‘The Barn’ opens at 5 September at 08:00. From that moment you can get a drink and from 17:00 the kitchen is open for dinner. From 6 September, it will be possible to lunch.
