FOUNDATION & NAME
After an informal meeting in April 2006 with the Delft Student Sport Federation to talk about a new student badminton association in Delft, the Delft Student Badminton Association – United Shuttles Smashing Right (DSBA-USSR) was founded in the summer of 2006. The remarkable name was elected from a long list of names and refers to: unite the badminton shuttles (and thus the players) together and enjoying smashing fun whilst playing with each other.
GROWTH & LOCATION
After 2006, the club grew rapidly and after 15 years the club already reached around 120 members from all different levels, which makes DSBA-USSR one of the bigger clubs in the region and DSBA-USSR is still growing. The club is subscribed as an official club at Badminton Netherlands and has a collaboration with the TU Delft, so the trainings and competition take place in the sports centre of the TU Delft, called X.
BADMINTON & ACTIVITIES
In these 15 years, already some notable successes has been booked, with the highlight winning the Dutch Championships for teams in the highest men category in 2018. But winning competitions and tournaments is not the only important thing in our club, we will always be a student association and therefore social events will be organised regularly and we will have a drink after the trainings and the events, to improve the bonding between the members. Also every year multiple tournaments are organised, like the friendly tournaments with other student associations and the club championships.
